CFC’s Counseling Program offers counseling/psychotherapy to individuals, families and couples within the greater Rochester area. Our services are solution focused and utilize verbal therapy approaches to help clients develop skills and implement strategies to resolve problems in their lives. Presenting problems include: family and marital discord; depression and anxiety; stress management; work issues; parent-child conflict; grief and loss, etc.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: The department’s counseling services are open to all individuals, couples and families regardless of race, creed, religious tradition, gender, sexual orientation or financial status. The program’s scope of practice addresses conditions that are amenable to verbal interventions in a general counseling setting. Assessment and referral services are provided for clients who present with substance abuse or gambling problems and those with major mental illnesses.

INTAKE PROCESS: Contact our Intake Office at 30 N. Clinton Ave. by calling (585) 546-3617. Potential clients will talk to our Intake Coordinator who will ask basic demographic information as well as why the client is seeking counseling. If CFC’s Counseling Services are appropriate to the client’s need, the Intake Coordinator will offer an appointment based on the location and time that best suits the client. If CFC is not the appropriate level of care, the Intake Coordinator will assist the caller in identifying other resources.
OTHER INFORMATION/LINKS:
CFC’s Counseling Program also supports a part-time Counselor at St. Joseph’s Neighborhood Center located at 417 South Avenue. St. Joseph’s offers free counseling, medical and dental care, and a host of supportive services for those who cannot afford even the lowest fee. While there is considerable demand for these services and, therefore, sometimes a waiting list, St. Joseph’s offers wonderful assistance to many in our community.
