Families 4 Future

The Family 4 Future program is a collaborative effort between Catholic Family Center and Ibero. This is a preventive program working with families that are struggling with substance abuse issues. The families have to be TANF eligible by Monroe County Department of Human Services guidelines and have children that are at risk of foster care placement. The program provides in-home counseling services to families as well as a parenting group and a children’s group to support what is being done in the home. The program’s primary goal is to support the parent(s) in their recovery. We work with families to prevent children from entering or returning to foster care, assisting the family in achieving a more self-sufficient life, increase family functioning as evidenced by improvement in caregiver/child interaction. Our work is collaborative and will include substance abuse treatment providers to assist a person in learning alternatives to drug use, assist the individual with tools to handle cravings, recognize triggers, to view recovery as a process, to expect relapse and to use as a teachable moment.

Services Provided:

  • Emphasis of the intervention is on the family. Therapeutic assessment and counseling services are provided in the family home, with assessment focus on both individual needs as well as the family system. Acknowledgement of a substance abuse intervention focus is identified as a goal on the Family Assessment Service Plan (FASP)
