Hospitality Packs

A Way To Say Welcome
Assembling Hospitality Packs is easy to coordinate and fills an ongoing need at all three of our shelters. The shelters are Francis Center (men), Women's Place (women and children) and Sanctuary House (women and children). This is a perfect project to do in an evening meeting as part of a Boy or Girl Scout meeting, a youth group get-together, women's club, small group or church circle meeting.

How Hospitality Packs Are Used
Hospitality Packs of toiletries and personal grooming items are given to homeless clients when they arrive at the shelters. These packs provide basic self-care items for use during their stay at the shelter and may be taken with them as they move into long-term housing.

What To Include In Hospitality Packs

(Please do not include items that may contain alcohol. Please check labels on mouthwash and after shave lotions.)

Men's: Soap, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Shampoo, Disposable Razor, Comb, Wash Cloth Women's: Soap, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Shampoo, Hand and Body Lotion, Hair Grease, Comb and Brush, Wash Cloth

How Should They Be Packed?
Please put items in a 1-gallon zip-style plastic bag. Label the outside of the bag "For Man" or "For Woman". Place like Hospitality Packs in a bag or box clearly marked with the gender, the name of the contributing organization, a contact person's name and telephone number.

How Many Are Needed?
CFC Homeless and Housing Services have an ongoing need for Hospitality Packs. Francis Center is a 36-bed shelter and serves approximately 1,200 men annually. Women's Place and Sanctuary House each serve approximately 18 adults and as many as 30 children each day, which is about 1,400 annually.

Donation of Other Toiletries and Small Personal Items

If you would rather donate individual toiletry items, they are used for game prizes, in holiday gift baskets and for The Children's Store, which provides a learning opportunity for the children to shop for small gift items for their mom for Christmas and Mother's Day.

Making Arrangements: For more information and to schedule donation dates call the CFC at (585) 546-7220. Items are always accepted at the H & H Department at the Francis Center, 547 Joseph Avenue, Rochester, NY 14605.
