Programs Included In STEPS
Moms & Kids Together: This program helps moms and kids build better relationships through fun activities and special outings. We need help: chaperons, donations to underwrite cost of supplies and tickets, assistance with monthly Birthday Parties, planning and arranging special events.
One thankful mom said, “The activities and recreation programs through the Mom’s and Kids Together Program allowed my child to be a child.”
Word Wizard Reading Program: A hands-on reading and crafts program to encourage recreational reading for mom and kids. Easy to follow curriculum and support materials featuring a Wizard Puppet, gifts of books with the Word Wizard bookplate and bookmark provided each participating child. Donation Needs: gently used and new books, summer readers (training provided)
My Own Helping Hands: A program built around volunteer presenters and agencies who offer information and skills development on a variety of topics at all three of our shelters. These sessions help clients learn more about themselves and their families and enhance life skills. Share your time and talents--crafts, home repairs, hobbies, relaxation and health topics. Screening, scheduling and training provided through the Volunteer Coordinator.
Parenthood: Guiding My Child's Journey --a program to help clients build skills as a parent. Become a session facilitators, activity assistants to work with children during parenthood sessions, telephone volunteer during sessions, clerical support to assemble program materials and scheduling, help writing short staff/volunteer news letter. (Training for facilitators required.)
