Welfare to Work

CFC’s Welfare to Work program offers services to clients referred by the Monroe County Department of Human Services to qualified self-referrals, and to referrals from various departments within CFC.welfare to work Services include developing a resume, financial literacy workshops, job readiness skills (understanding the world of work and work ethics), job search, job placement and post-placement follow up. Clients are referred to workshops at RochesterWorks, to GED classes and to other services as appropriate.

Each participant is assigned a case manager who is responsible for assessment, making the necessary referrals, helping the client navigate the DHS requirements and dealing with transportation, child care issues and any other issues that present a barrier to employment. The case manager uses the job openings developed by the department employment specialists to find appropriate placements and accompanies the client to interviews. The case manager stays in contact with the client after job placement for a minimum of three months.
