CFC has made the difficult decision to discontinue our Healthy Sisters’ Soup & Bean Works program. This program has been a labor of love for over 22 years, serving over 600 women, of whom over 60% have successfully transitioned to the workforce or school. We are so grateful to the participants, the CFC employees and volunteers, and our loyal partners and supporters who through the years have poured themselves into this program, and will miss the dancing ladies logo on the store shelf. Thank you!
Since 1996, Healthy Sisters’ Soup & Bean Works, a program of Catholic Family Center of Rochester, has provided basic job skills for women in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. The women are provided a nurturing work environment which helps them to develop the soft skills and self-confidence they need to secure lasting employment. Over six hundred women have participated and over 60% have successfully transitioned to the workforce or school. Their products have been sold in Wegmans, twenty wholesale partners, over twenty-five festivals and events annually, and on this web site..
The Healthy Sisters’ manufacturing site and the product line will be discontinued during the first quarter of this year. Although you may continue to see the soup and rice products in stores throughout 2019, our last wholesale and retail shipments will be in February. Product may still be found in the locations and online stores listed above.
The Healthy Sisters’ program has been a labor of love since its creation twenty-two years ago. We are so grateful to the participants, and the CFC employees through the years who have poured themselves into this program, and will miss the dancing ladies logo on the store shelf. Your legacy is not the food product; it is the hundreds of successful women among us today.
CFC will continue to empower women in recovery with tools and a path to independence. We are constantly engaged in improving our services and seeking the most effective tools and supports for the clients we serve. Our clinical outpatient and Residential Restart addiction recovery programs have evolved to address the complex needs of clients with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse issues, and provide case management for clients requiring other community supports to meet their needs such as housing, child care, medical services, etc… Our Workforce Development team has expanded to provide supportive employment services for so many who are struggling with high risk factors in their lives. These services provide critical basic job skills for our clients’ long-term self-sufficiency and prosperity in our community.
Thank you, to all of you who have visited our site, purchased our products, offered encouraging words, and kept this ministry in your thoughts and prayers.
