Welcoming Refugees & Immigrants

Housing, job training, advocacy, language skills and citizenship

Overview Helping refugees and immigrants find peace, safety, friendship and independence.

From the Italian and Polish neighborhoods of the past to the Somali, Cuban and Bhutanese communities of today, Rochester has been enriched by those who add their music, art and tradition to our community mosaic.

Support to Rochester’s immigrant community has been a cornerstone of Catholic Family Center’s work since its founding in 1917. Over the past 35 years, over 15,000 refugees have resettled to Rochester, NY with the help of Catholic Family Center and our many partners.

SeeTheirStories Some came alone. Some escaped with their families. All dreamed of living in peace.

CFC has launched the “See Their Stories” campaign in effort to bring clarity to the mistrust and misunderstanding of the refugee story. It has been viewed and shared across the United States and, in fact, all over the world. We invite you to encounter these stories of struggle, courage and hope here.
